Ham Radio Workbench QRP Smarty Load

Introduction

Our 21st century take on a classic piece of Ham Radio gear - we took a run of the mill QRP dummy load design and added an Arduino to create the Smarty Load.  This project features:

  • Up to 25 watts (Caution!  This unit will get hot - recommended to run with ventilation or a small fan to assist in the dissipation of heat)
  • Powered by the commonly available Arduino Pro Micro 5v with USB
  • The Arduino enables LED indication of approximate power level - software can be modified for more accuracy when written to be band specific (great for testing limited-band DIY QRP kits)
  • Can output data via the UART
  • Software can be further customized for multiple display options
